Metro Detroit's economic growth slows

Wayne State University School of Business Administration professors Nitin Paranjpe and Timothy Butler discuss the Southeast Michigan Purchasing Managers Index. Helicopter lasers, health record exchange, and Rick Snyder's past - A Michigan roundup

Wayne State University Physician Group, a nonprofit that operates 100-plus medical practices and serves 670,000 patients in Detroit, said it is using Orion Health's technology to collect and manage patient data, independent of its own existing electronic health record system. The system will help the Wayne State organization create an exchange of clinical and demographic data between hospitals, medical centers, and its own offices.

It's time to invest more in education

In an op-ed special, Casandra Ulbrich, director of corporate and foundation relations at Wayne State University, calls for a re-prioritization of how the state spends its limited resources while focusing on a long-term vision of investing in job growth and human capital. "Some say we cannot afford to invest in jobs and education," Ulbrich said. "At this point, we can't afford not to. We know what we have to do, the question is, are we willing to do it?"

Wayne State offers new certificate in engineering entrepreneurship

Beginning this fall, undergraduate students at Wayne State University will have the opportunity to study ventures engineering and earn a certificate in Engineering Entrepreneurship. Wayne State's Board of Governors approved the new certificate program during an Aug. 4 meeting. Students with ADD need your help getting ready

Students with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) often have a different learning style than other students, and parents can help ease their transition by keeping that in mind as they prepare them for the new school year. \"This isn\'t a problem that kids outgrow,\" said Ronald Brown, a pediatric psychologist and provost at Wayne State University. \"If kids were having problems in the early grades, chances are they\'ll have it all the way through school, and things will get tougher as they do more independent seat work.\" Brown offered several tips for parents of students with ADD.

New backs gain 326 yards in Wayne State victory

A new crew of running backs from Wayne State's Warriors football team combined for 326 yards rushing and four touchdowns in the season opener 31-19 victory over Northwood University at Adams Field. Junior Josh Renel ran for 192 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries and redshirt freshman Toney Davis ran for 114 yards on 29 carries and scored Wayne State\'s other touchdown. \"I think this is going to be a great year,\" said Warrior coach Paul Winters.
