WSU professor talks about Engineering Ventures Program

Nancy Philippart, executive-in-residence of the College of Engineering\'s Engineering Ventures Program, was a guest on The Craig Fahle Show Friday, where she discussed the new Engineering Entrepreneurship certificate program for undergraduate students at Wayne State. The program takes advantage of three course offerings in the School of Business Administration, as well as one new engineering course and an entrepreneurial capstone project to help prepare students to start their own businesses or work for startup companies.

Offer cash prize and things start happening

The New Economy Initiative for Southeast Michigan announced a business plan competition yesterday --the largest of its kind -- which will award $1 million in prizes for the best and brightest business plan ideas. The Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition targets early stage businesses with proven technology and potential to generate an immediate impact on Michigan\'s economy, as well as student concepts with longer-term business viability. The University Research Corridor, comprised of Wayne State University, Michigan State University and the University of Michigan, has agreed to promote the competition within its student populations.
