Wayne State prof gets $3.4M from NIH for fibromyalgia research
A Wayne State University researcher is investigating whether therapy that focuses on education, symptom management or confronting avoided emotional experiences is the best approach for fibromyalgia, a common and disabling pain condition. Mark A. Lumley, professor of psychology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, received a five-year, $3,373,000 grant from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases of the National Institutes of Health for the study "Pain and Stress Management for Fibromyalgia."
