Artists can apply for '2005 Jackson Area Show

Artists who are 18 or older and who live in the Jackson area may submit slides and an application to Jim Zuleski, director of collections and exhibits for the Ella Sharp Museum. The deadline is Nov. 19 and only original works that have been completed in the past two years and that have not been exhibited at the museum may be submitted. Marion E. Jackson, the Wayne State University professor who curated the show, will give a talk on \"Listenin\' to the Rhythms: A Reflection on the Art\" at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 in Rueckert Auditorium, Dominican Hall.

Police say a Wayne State University graduate student tried to run over an officer who was attempting to arrest him on sex charges. The suspect allegedly used his computer to arrange a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old who turned out to be an undercover officer. The suspect, who\'s in the United States on a student visa, could be deported.

Football to play at Ford Field this Saturday

The Wayne State Warriors will play their season finale at noon Saturday at Ford Field against Hillsdale in the first game of the Collegiate Clash doubleheader. Eastern Michigan will take on Central Michigan in the second game at 4:30 p.m. One ticket will be good for admission to both games.

Two incumbents ousted from university board seats

Democrats won five of the six open seats in three state university board races. Paul Hillegonds was ousted in his bid to return to Wayne State. "I'm feeling resigned to the reality that these seats generally go as the top of the tickets go," said Hillegonds, who expects to continue to support WSU. Annetta Miller, the other incumbent, won in the nine-person WSU board race.
