Wayne Law embracing technology

The Wayne State University Law School is now doing its part to keep up with its tech savvy students, alumni and friends. The Wayne Law Career Services Office authors a blog, available at http://law.wayne.edu/blogs/careers-services/, to assist Wayne Law students, alumni and friends in securing employment. Specifically, the Career Services blog offers suggestions about what sectors and employers are hiring, where to find clerkships and internships, job search basics, building a résumé and much more. Wayne Law has also expanded communication efforts outside of blogging via Twitter, Facebook and Linked In to better reach its many stakeholders.

Wayne State Study Finds New Compound Helps With Cholesterol

Arizona-based Health Enhancement Products Inc. has announced preliminary results of a study to confirm the efficacy of a bioactive compound in managing levels of both LDL and HDL cholesterol. The company awarded a grant to the Department of Nutrition and Food Science here last March for the research. When the study is completed, Wayne State will publish a scientific paper describing the results as well as the means and methods employed. The principal investigator is professor Smiti Gupta.

Detroit students get hands on Web experience via WSU program

Twenty-nine high school students from Detroit and Inkster who are taking part in Wayne State University's BizTech Summer Camp have been given the opportunity to design and maintain the Detroit Public Schools' Web site. Organized by Wayne State's School of Business Administration, the internship program includes classroom and hands-on learning from June through August, and the top 10 graduates from the program receive a free computer system.
