New Market Twenty 4 Seven coming to Scott Hall in March

A depiction of the new Market Twenty 4 Seven coming to the cafeteria in Scott Hall beginning March 18.

A new fresh food retailing option, the first of its kind on the entire Wayne State University campus, is coming to Scott Hall.

For many months the School of Medicine's administration has been working with FOODA, a pop-up style restaurant lunch option, but that will come to an end to make way for Market Twenty 4 Seven. This new fresh food option, Market Twenty 4 Seven is secured through the contracted Wayne State vendor Continental. As the name implies, food and beverage options will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This is a far healthier and fresher choice from the standard vending food options experienced in the past, as well as the food options from FOODA.

Continental will partner with the Wayne State University School of Medicine to transform Scott Hall's cafeteria into an inviting, convenient Market Twenty 4 Seven customized to our needs. It will be stocked with 1,000-plus name brand favorites, healthy meal options, go-to snacks, homemade bakery treats and premium beverages, including a Total 1 bean-to-cup coffee machine.. This new concept includes a  self-serve kiosk pay-on-the-go setup. You may have seen something very similar in other education or hospital settings, or at airports. You will select your food and beverage items, then proceed to the kiosk to check out.

The market will be restocked three to five times per week, with the stocking schedule based on market demand and usage. The weekly available selections will rotate to encourage menu variety. The school has the opportunity to request specific product items. Breakfast and lunch options will also be available. Beverage options include the full Pepsi products line.

Installation of Market Twenty 4 Seven will occur March 11-17, followed by a grand opening the following week of March 18. To ensure a positive transition of food service, FOODA will continue to schedule pop up restaurants until the week of March 11. Work has already begun to prepare the space for Market Twenty 4 Seven. The work will continue over the next several weeks to prepare for the installation.
