Dr. Drescher, who also serves as director of Molecular Research, was a keynote speaker and a session chair, presenting his work on “Protein interaction analysis by surface plasmon resonance” at the conference, held in Rome, Italy, on Sept. 7.

Surface plasmon resonance is a contemporary methodology that analyzes the degree of interaction of key proteins needed for the function of inner ear and skeletal muscle in normal and disease states.

Dr. Drescher joined the Department of Otolaryngology at Wayne State University in 1978 and has pursued research on the molecular biology and biochemistry of hair-cell neurotransmitter systems.
