Aisha Langford, M.P.H., Ph.D., joins Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences

Aisha Langford, M.P.H., Ph.D., has joined the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences at the Wayne State University School of Medicine.

An associate professor (research educator), Dr. Langford joined the department Sept. 1.

She is a member of the Society of Behavioral Medicine, the Society for Medical Decision Making, the American Heart Association and the Academy of Communication in Healthcare. She also is the associate editor for the journals Clinical Trials, and Patient Education and Counseling in Healthcare.

Her key research interests include health communication and decision making, particularly how health communication can improve individual decision making and reduce population health disparities for conditions or behaviors that lead to preventable mortality and morbidity.

Dr. Langford received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in 2000, her master’s of public health degree in Behavioral Science from Saint Louis University in 2007 and her doctoral degree in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan in 2013. She completed a dual affiliation fellowship with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan School of Medicine’s Center for Bioethics and Social Science in Medicine.
