World Ultrasound Congress in Detroit adds interactive student competition to schedule

Students who attend the Eighth World Congress on Ultrasound in Medical Education next month can look forward to flexing their competitive muscles in a contest added to the already-packed event schedule.

A Student Ultrasound Competition will take place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 9, featuring a mixture of hands-on scanning challenges, ultrasound knowledge and surprise twists in what is expected to be a high-energy and engaging educational competition.

Register for the competition here.

The congress is set for Sept. 7-10 in the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Hotel, located at 400 Renaissance Drive W. in Detroit.

Teams are encouraged to register soon. The competition is limited to a maximum of 10 teams, comprised of three students each. Each team may have a faculty advisor, but students will participate in the competition without faculty input.

The competition is designed to be an opportunity for teams of medical students to demonstrate their ultrasound skills in image recognition and interpretation of normal and abnormal ultrasound findings, as well as showcase their image acquisition skills in various point-of-care ultrasound applications.

The competition will include an “Ultrasound Escape Room” and “Lightning Rounds” to crown the winning team the 2023 Student Ultrasound Competition champion.

Registration is available here.
