Michigan AHEC graduates fourth cohort of AHEC Scholars

The Michigan Area Health Education Center, headquartered at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, hosted an AHEC Scholars Recognition Ceremony at the WSU College of Nursing.

Student groups presented their team-based quality improvement projects and all AHEC Scholars were recognized for completing the two-year program. AHEC Scholars is part of a national initiative created to prepare future health care providers to become leaders in primary care in rural and underserved areas.

This is the fourth cohort of students to graduate in the AHEC Scholars Program. Students came from across Michigan and represented the following academic institutions: Wayne State University College of Nursing, Wayne State University School of Medicine, Central Michigan University College of Medicine, WSU Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and Ferris State University College of Pharmacy. A group of University of Michigan Social Work students graduated early from the AHEC Scholars Program in December 2022.
