Wayne shines at Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs meeting

The Wayne State University School of Medicine took center stage at the annual meeting of the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs, held Feb. 27-March 1 in Long Beach, Calif.

WSU Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences Chair and the Miriam L. Hamburger Endowed Chair of Child Psychiatry and Professor David Rosenberg, M.D., hosted a special invited symposium, “Behavioral Mental Health,” on March 1.

Topics included safety in the school setting and preparing future pediatricians to meet the growing mental health needs, followed a by panel discussion.

“What made this extra special was the strong WSU presence at the meeting. Dr. Herman Gray, chair of the Department of Pediatrics at WSU, was a distinguished panelist for the symposium, as was Dr. Bonita Stanton, former chair of Pediatrics and former vice dean for Research at the School of Medicine,” Dr. Rosenberg said.

Dr. Stanton is now the founding dean of Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University in New Jersey.

“The symposium was very well received and praised by the chair of AMSPDC, Dr. Gabriel Haddad. It was a great example of the strong impact WSU has at national meetings, with Wayne State’s departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics partnering on the national stage,” Dr. Rosenberg added.
