Following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Wayne State University Insiders are back and looking to grow in popularity and size.
WSU Insiders are comprised of Wayne State faculty and staff members, students, parents, alumni, and community members who share a curiosity about the university and our Midtown neighborhood. Insiders are invited to events highlighting areas of excellence on and around campus. Those interested can sign up here.
“WSU Insiders offers members an opportunity to step out of the office and take a closer look at what makes WSU such a great place to be,” said Julie Hasse, the university’s associate director of marketing and communications, experiential marketing. “It’s also a great chance to connect with the campus community while learning something new.”
Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications Carolyn Berry said that Insiders offers members the chance to express and grow their Warrior spirit.
“After two years of limited opportunities to explore our campus community — due to the pandemic, it’s an exciting time to reunite the WSU Insiders,” she said. "Our goal with this community is to open the doors to a range of campus experiences. It is a great opportunity to meet new people and learn more about a unique area of campus. Event participants always leave feeling inspired and full of WSU pride.
There are two WSU Insiders events scheduled for spring: On May 17, Insiders will have the opportunity to hear about the renovation process for what is now the STEM Innovation Learning Center and then get a guided building tour to explore the well-designed educationally supportive spaces. On June 8, Insiders will hear about some historical moments and get a behind-the-scenes look at Wayne State University Press while learning how an idea can transform into a book.
Hasse said that one of her goals is to grow membership for the Insiders program.
“We know there have been many new Warriors who have joined our community over these last two years,” she said. “We want to get the word out about Insiders to get everyone involved.”
