Now in its closing days, the exhibit "25 Years, 25 Treasures" showcases 25 significant photographs, documents  and objects from the collections of the Leonard N. Simons Jewish Community Archives, in celebration of its 25th anniversary.  The Walter P. Reuther Library of Labor and Urban Affairs on  Wayne State University's campus serves as the repository for the Jewish Community Archives and plays host to the exhibit.

Key documents and artifacts tell remarkable stories of Detroit's Jewish community, from the late 19th century to the end of the 20th century.  The exhibit is in its final days and closes Aug.  5.  It is on view in the atrium of the Reuther Library (5401 Cass Avenue), which is open during regular business hours.

Since 1991, the Leonard N. Simons Jewish Community Archives has collected over 2 million documents, 25,000 photographs, and recorded more than  100 oral histories, which chronicle the rich and varied history of Detroit's Jewish community.  Because of its unique relationship with the Walter P. Reuther Library, the JCA's collections are available to scholars, researchers and the public through the Reuther Reading Room.

Docent-led group tours are  available. For more information, call 313-577-4024 or  contact  Aimee Ergas, Jewish Collections archivist for the  Walter P. Reuther Library.
