Wayne State University President M. Roy Wilson and U.S. District Judge Terrence G. Berg were recently honored at the second annual Justice Award Tribute for dedicating their lives to equality and justice. Wilson and Berg also were recognized for their commitment to serving and raising awareness of the struggles of the community.

The event, held at the Music Hall in Detroit, was created through a partnership with the Arab American Civil Rights League and the Detroit Branch of the NAACP.

Wilson was noted for creating the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement at Wayne State in 2014 to provide an inclusive environment and promote initiatives for underrepresented minorities and marginalized students. He also created the position of associate provost for diversity and inclusion and chief diversity officer in 2014.

Honorees were selected by event co-chairs Judge Kathleen M. McCarthy of Wayne County Circuit Court-Family Division and U.S. District Judge Linda V. Parker.
