Grab a drink, class is back in session.

Wayne State's popular Knowledge on Tap speaker series returns Wednesday, Sept. 17, as Anthropology Professor Krysta Ryzewski presents "Detroit's Lost Communities: A chat with the city's premier urban archaeologist."

Ryzewski has been researching and excavating long-lost Detroit neighborhoods that once thrived in places like Corktown's Roosevelt Park and on the site of the city's iconic Renaissance Center. Join her as she exhibits artifacts and details what life may have been like for Detroit's earliest residents.

Knowledge on Tap consists of live -- and lively -- discussions with some of Detroit's greatest minds. The events are held every other month at various Midtown restaurants and bars and feature an informal presentation by one of Wayne State's renowned faculty members on a topic of their choice, followed by dynamic conversation. Upcoming topics include everything from local history, space exploration and medical breakthroughs to art, poetry and urban studies.

The event takes place at Tony V's Tavern, located at 5756 Cass Avenue, Detroit, MI 48201. Event begins at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation starts at 6 p.m.

All Knowledge on Tap events are free, open to the public and require no educational background. All ages are welcome.
