A rare meteor shower is expected to light up the night sky Saturday, May 24 as Earth passes through streams of cosmic debris produced by the faint comet 209P/LINEAR. The object crosses into Earth's orbit around the sun approximately once every five years, but this is the first time it will produce a potential meteor shower.
Wayne State University Physics and Astronomy Professor David Corliss is available to discuss the unique event and to share sky-watching tips to help you fully enjoy the celestial spectacle.
