For years, Pipeline has been the employee portal for doing everything from reviewing pay stubs to signing up for training. But this fall, Computing & Information Technology will roll out a new system called Academica.

A team of developers, led by Michael Gregorowicz, has been hard at work on Academica since early 2012.

“The cool thing about developing this in-house is that we can really tailor it to our needs,” Gregorowicz said.

As with Pipeline, Academica will provide access to Wayne Connect, Blackboard, OneCard and other online services. However, Academica will also include a modern messaging system similar to Facebook’s, with a mobile-friendly design and smart links to frequently used WSU resources.

“As people start to use the system, it should learn what they’re looking for and bring that information to the forefront,” Gregorowicz said. “We’ve tried to make the navigation much more simple and powerful.”

If you are interested in trying out Academica during its pilot stage this summer, log in at academica.wayne.edu and enter your AccessID and password. Feedback and questions can be directed to academica@wayne.edu
