"Collaborative Care: Improving Community Health" to be explored May 13 at Wayne State University

WHAT:
“Collaborative Care: Improving Community Health” will be discussed by Joseph Mullany, chief executive officer, Detroit Medical Center (DMC), and Nancy M. Schlichting, chief executive officer, Henry Ford Health System.

Mullany joined the DMC as president in 2012. Formerly president of Vanguard Health Systems’ New England region, he excelled at creating a culture of excellence within the New England region based upon a foundation of patient and family safety, quality and value creation. While under his leadership, the hospitals within the New England region received numerous awards and honors, and developed several recognized service lines including excellence designation for stroke care, hospice, home care and cancer care services.

Schlichting, named president and CEO of Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) in 2003, oversees a nationally recognized $4 billion health care organization with 23,000 employees. She is credited with leading the health system through a dramatic financial turnaround and for award-winning patient safety, customer service and diversity initiatives. She joined HFHS in 1998 as senior vicepresident and chief administrative officer. In 1999, she became its executive vice president and chief operating officer. In 2001, she assumed an additional role as president and chief executive officer of Henry Ford Hospital, and is credited for its financial turnaround.
