Since 2009, Wayne State's Front Door program has thrown out the welcome mat for companies and community members looking to take advantage of WSU's brain trust.
The Front Door connects the business community to the university's resources including research talent, faculty consultants, facilities, licensing opportunities, research investment, entrepreneurship support and student interns.
"The Front Door was created to be Wayne State's central business-engagement center," says Front Door Director of Corporate Engagement Dennis Atkinson. "As part of the Vice President for Economic Development's Office, we work with our industrial community to help promote WSU's research achievements and expertise, create opportunities for student engagement, and engage with companies to use university resources to help them succeed.
"Working with TechTown, the Front Door works with small firms to bring technology commercialization opportunities from Wayne State's research to the market."
RealBio® Technology, Inc., a Kalamazoo, Mich. life sciences product development company, was awarded more than $38,000 from the Michigan Corporate Relations Network last week to further its research relationship with WSU.
The funding will support research to aid the development of RealBio’s invitro tumor model technology to better mimic the natural composition, configuration and function of normal and diseased tissue for cancer research.
This is the second such accolade for Front Door-connected companies.
