Register now for the Saturday Art Therapy Workshop held at the Community Arts Building on Wayne State University’s campus. The workshop is an art therapy experience for children and adults, a practicum class for graduate art therapy students, and is supervised by faculty members who are registered art therapists.  The 21st annual workshop is scheduled between January 21 and March 31, 2012. The Workshop runs from 10 to 11:30 am on ten consecutive Saturdays with March 17th off during winter recess. There will be an end of session exhibit and reception for family and friends on March 31, 2011 in the Community Arts Building.

Graduate art therapy students design and facilitate the sessions that are geared towards fostering self-awareness and personal growth, while focusing on the personal goals of each registrant. Any child or adult who may benefit from a creative, non-verbal mode of communication and expression may enroll.  Possible benefits of art therapy include personal growth, or assistance with working though issues by obtaining a different perspective which can lead to the resolution of a problem. Many individuals have attended in past years simply because they value art and they come to have fun making art with others.

The cost of the workshop is $25.00 and includes art supplies. Registration is taking place now, and all those who would like to participate are strongly encouraged to apply by December 23, 2011. To register, please submit applications available on http://coe.wayne.edu/ted/art-therapy/index.php, or contact the workshop instructor Deb Duranczyk, ao3062@wayne.edu or the Art Therapy Program coordinator Dr. Holly Feen, hfeen@wayne.edu.
