The College of Education's Institute for the Study of the African-‐American Child (ISAAC) fosters African-‐American education and child development through research, dissemination of information, training, and community service to parents and clinical services for children. ISAAC strives to expand awareness and understanding of critical issues related to the achievement of African-‐American children by illuminating policy issues at the local, state and national levels.

ISAAC is pleased to announce the launching African American Learners (AAL), an on-‐ line, peer-‐reviewed, scholarly journal presenting empirical, theoretical and methodological research and analysis of the home, school and other environmental factors that impact the learning process for African American children and adults. The AAL journal is interested in publishing studies that examine the latest advances in pedagogical practices that have positively affected African American learners, including those theorized from an Africancentric perspective. A Call for Papers invites the submission of original research findings from scholars and researchers in the various disciplines on the education of African American learners, past, present, and future. The deadline for submission is January 15, 2012.
