Undergraduate students from across the university will converge at the McGregor Memorial Conference Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, to present their research and creative projects. This year's Undergraduate Research Conference will feature student work in a range of disciplines, including natural and social sciences, business and economics, humanities, and fine and performing arts.

More than 100 WSU undergraduates will present their research through group panels or posters. Presentations this year include: Parietal Modulation of Working Memory in Children with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome; Animation: Who, How, When and Why; Dance and Technology: Intersections of Form, Design and Performance; and MicroRNA and Type 1 Diabetes. The WSU Academy of Scholars will judge presentations and award WSU bookstore gift cards to the top student researchers.

Twice a year, students make formal proposals for their research projects. Approved projects are supported with up to $2,300 each. Since 2004, the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Projects has awarded more than $1.8 million for research projects. Students work with faculty mentors who help steer them through the process of conducting effective research.
