WSU\'s journalism program honors retired Detroit Free Press reporter Bill McGraw

Detroit, October 16, 2009 - The journalism program at Wayne State has named former Detroit Free Press reporter Bill McGraw the 2009 Journalist of the Year. McGraw recently joined Compuware Corp. as director of media relations.

Canadian reporter Laura Lowe, a videographer at CTV in Ottawa, Ontario, was named the program's Alumna of the Year. She began her career in 2005 at KCAU-TV (ABC) in Sioux City, Iowa, as a general assignment reporter. She moved to CTV in 2006, working in Windsor and Pembroke before Ottawa.

Journalism Graduate of the Year honors go to December 2009 graduate Erika Erickson and May 2010 graduate Carolyn Chin, a member of the Journalism Institute for Media Diversity.
