Radio announces that Carl Allison, Certified Fund Raising
Executive (CFRE), has joined thestation as its Development
Director. Allison, who has fund raising experience with other
Detroit area cultural institutions such as the Detroit Science
Center, WTVS - Channel 56 and most recently, The Henry
Ford, joins WDET following the station\'s national search
for a fund raising professional.
"We are delighted to have Carl Allison join the WDET team,"
said Michael Coleman, WDET General Manager. "Not only
does Carl know and understand our community, but he also
understands the mission of Detroit\'s public radio station.
He has been a listener and donor to WDET for many years."
Allison brings an array of fundraising expertise to his new
position at WDET. In addition to individual giving, he will
also be managing planned giving, major gifts, grant writing,
donor relations and foundation and corporate support.
He will also oversee the station\'s membership and
underwriting departments.
"As a lifelong Detroiter, I\'ve been a big fan of WDET for Allison
many years," said Carl Allison. "The station is truly an
asset to our community, and I\'m proud to be associated with a radio service that has such depth and diversity of programming. I\'m looking forward to helping WDET grow its service to metropolitan Detroit. The station has many new returning listeners, and we want to invite those people to support this important service."
Besides his professional posts at area cultural institutions, Allison is also the owner and founder of Motor City Candleworks, which produces candles that are creatively named for significant people, places and things in and about Detroit. He is also active in AIDS Partnership Michigan, a volunteer for the Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade and Arts and Scraps, among other interests.
