The Hilberry Theatre Presents its Season Opening Production, Sylvia

 Opening the 2005-2006 Hilberry Theatre season is Sylvia, a
comedic classic by A.R. Gurney, at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005. Set in
modern-day New York City, the new female that Greg brings home from Central Park
has his wife, Kate, seeing red. The third roommate is a dog named "Sylvia"
who becomes Greg\'s escape from the unknowns of middle age. But Kate sees the
bond between man and his best friend as a challenge, about which Sylvia
has plenty to say.

Albert Ramsdell Gurney, Jr. began writing for the theatre in the
late 1950s while attending the Yale School of Drama. Known as one of the most
prolific and produced playwrights in America, Gurney\'s work focuses primarily on
the issues and realities of middle-class American life. One of his more
recentplays, Sylvia premiered at the Manhattan Theatre Club on May 2, 1995.

Directed by the Chair of Wayne State University\'s Theatre
Department, Blair Anderson, the cast includes: Chris Bohan (Greg), Sean Ward
(Tom/Phyllis/Leslie), Carly Germany (Kate) and Tiffanie Kilgast
(Sylvia).

Designers for Sylvia are David Court (scenic), Tom Schraeder (lighting),
Elizabeth Moore (costumes) and Andy Morehouse (sound).

Sylvia plays through Thursday, December 1, 2005, in rotating
repertory with Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare and Sweet Bird of Youth by
Tennessee Williams.

Ticket prices range from $15 - $28 with student rush tickets
available the day of the performance for $10. Group discounts are also available. For
