TechTown Awards Facilities Management Contract to Premier Real Estate Services Firm Cushman & Wakefield

( Detroit ) June 8, 2005—TechTown, Detroit ’s only research and technology park, is proud to announce that it has contracted Cushman & Wakefield to provide facilities management services. A leading global real estate services firm, Cushman & Wakefield assumes its new role managing TechOne, TechTown’s 100,000-square-foot business incubator building, this month.

“I am delighted to welcome Cushman & Wakefield as an integral part of TechTown’s comprehensive support system for high tech companies,” says Howard Bell, the executive director of TechTown, which will mark the first anniversary of TechOne with a celebration later this month.

Before hiring Cushman & Wakefield, TechTown’s management team provided facilities management services for tenants, from construction oversight on laboratory expansion to snow removal. Faced with a stream of new tenants signing leases, the staff decided to outsource building management in order to focus on the goal of empowering entrepreneurs who are creating products and services that save lives and improve people’s quality of life.

“TechTown is already known for providing business development programs and the space best equipped for launching technology ventures anywhere in Detroit ,” Bell explains. “Now with Cushman & Wakefield on board, a lease at TechOne also means being catered to by a world-class facilities management firm. This will help attract even more of the best emerging technology companies in the region and across the country to our tenant roster.”

Cushman & Wakefield will fulfill a broad range of facilities management responsibilities for TechTown’s staff and its 11 tenant companies, including occupant relations and janitorial, electrical and elevator maintenance. This partnership also ensures that TechTown will pay the lowest possible costs for supplies and services thanks to Cushman & Wakefield’s bulk purchasing agreements and innovative procurement technology.

Founded in 1917, Cushman & Wakefield manages properties for landlords and tenants in 49 countries. The firm now employees more than 11,000 dedicated professionals.
