DETROIT – May 20, 2005 – HOUR Detroit magazine’s Best of Detroit 2005 readers’ poll has honored WDET 101.9FM by naming it “Best Radio Station” and “Best Source For International News.” This is the second year in a row that the readers of HOUR Detroit have selected WDET as Detroit’s best radio station. The station’s full-service programming that provides listeners with in-depth local, national and international news as well as a unique, progressive mix of music is what continues to make WDET a favorite among listeners.
“We’re delighted to be recognized at Detroit’s best radio station and best source for international news,” said Judy Adams, WDET Program Director and Program Host. “Our audience recognizes WDET as a unparalleled local radio service that offers music, news and information programming that is intelligent and thoughtful. I have to congratulate the entire programming staff for producing such outstanding radio programs.”
The WDET music and news hosts are regularly recognized with local and national awards for their commitment to excellence and in-depth approach to presenting both music and news. Music hosts at WDET handcraft their programs, keep on top of musical trends and research artists to bring listeners the world’s best music of every genre. The WDET news staff takes as much time as necessary to report on important stories and provide listeners with valuable background and analysis. Listeners distinguish the difference in how WDET sounds compared to other stations, and continue to name WDET as Detroit’s “Best Radio Station.”
