Wizard of Oz Comes to the WSU for National Library Week

In celebration of the American Library Association¹s (ALA) National Library

Week, April 10 through 16, the Wayne State University Library System will be

hosting an exhibit and film showing that exemplifies this year's theme:

"Something for Everyone."  As a well-known book and film, the Wizard of Oz

has delighted young and old alike over the years.

The exhibit will be on display in the atrium of the David Adamany

Undergraduate Library throughout the month of April and share information

about the author, the story of Oz and the 1939 film starring Judy Garland.

The film showing will take place in the Bernath Auditorium at the

Undergraduate Library on Wed., April 13 at 1 p.m.  The film is free and

open to the public.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance

sponsored by the ALA and libraries across the country each April. It is a

time to celebrate the contributions of our nation¹s libraries and librarians

and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries -- school,

public, academic and special -- participate.

The Wayne State University Library System consists of the universities\' five

libraries: The David Adamany Undergraduate Library, the Purdy/Kresge

Library, the Shiffman Medical Library, the Arthur Neef Law Library and the

Science and Engineering Library, the Library and Information Science Program

and the Office for Teaching and Learning.

Wayne State University is a premier institution offering more than 350

academic programs through 12 schools and colleges to more than 33,000

students in metropolitan Detroit.
