Wayne State University Organization of Black Alumni announce 11th Annual Achievement Awards

Three outstanding African-American alumni achievers will be honored by the Organization of Black Alumni (OBA) of Wayne State University during its 11th Annual Achievement Awards Banquet on Friday, Nov. 5, 2004. An elegant reception and dinner at the Hotel Pontchartrain ballroom will be held at 6 p.m. followed by the awards ceremony.

This year's honorees include: Kenneth Hill, founder and former director (retired), Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP); Sean Werdlow, chief financial officer, city of Detroit; and Reuben Yabuku, founder and artistic director, BUKU Productions Theatre Company.

The OBA is the third largest of 14 alumni constituent groups. For the past 11 years the organization has served its members and the community with excellent networking opportunities through its many social, cultural and educational events and mentoring program. OBA is proud of the fact that more African-Americans earn their degrees at Wayne State University than any urban university of its kind, other than those institutions that are historically Black.

Tickets are $60 each with proceeds to benefit the Detroit Public High School Endowed Scholarship Fund that has provided many deserving minority public high school seniors with tuition assistance to attend Wayne State University. For more information or to make reservations call Alumni House at 313-577-2279.
