Activities for Wayne State alumni and friends in October

Four outstanding activities highlight Wayne State University's calendar of events for alumni, their families and friends in October. Reservations are required - call (313) 577-2166 to get a seat.

Parade Company Tour and Reception

With larger-than-life floats that depict everything from fairytale favorites to Detroit-area legends, The Parade Company is a whimsical wonderland that invites alumni and friends to take a closer look on this special day. Join us for a guided tour of the design shop where concepts are developed and built, then visit the showroom for an exciting array of floats from parades past and present. Bring the family and your camera and spend a fun-filled afternoon with us.

Oktoberfest Comes to WSU

The vibrant sights, sounds and tastes of a German festival will turn the campus of Wayne State into Oktoberfest, an all-new event for alumni. You'll think you're in Munich when you playfully dance to the sounds of a Bavarian band and feast on festive foods such as Bratwurst with sauerkraut, German potato pancakes, Krautsalat and apple strudel. The celebration takes place under a tent outside of Alumni House, so be sure to stop by rain or shine.

Brunch at Barton Hills Country Club

Fine dining awaits you at the elegant Barton Hills Country Club. Have brunch while enjoying views of the golf course, and participate in a cooking demonstration by executive chef Michael Trombley. The buffet includes Belgian waffles, eggs benedict, chicken, seafood, pasta entrees and many decadent desserts. Plan now to join us for an afternoon of culinary delights.

Homecoming Breakfast and Parade

Kick off Homecoming day with a fun-filled breakfast at Alumni House. Wear your green-and-gold Warriors garb and get in the winning spirit while you enjoy pancakes and sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns and other breakfast favorites. Afterward, march over to the third-annual WSU Homecoming parade and celebrate to the sights and sounds of marching bands and floats. Spend some time tailgating before heading to Wayne State Stadium to cheer for the Warriors at the noon kickoff against the Hillsdale Chargers.
