Wayne State University offers a workshop for parents to develop effective leadership skills from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24, in Murray Wright High School, 2100 W. Warren. Lunch is included.
Dorothy Kispert, former director of the Detroit Family Project and former director of Wayne State's Parents and Children Together project, is the scheduled luncheon speaker.
The workshop presents an opportunity to learn more about relationships, to learn how to monitor your child's progress through report cards, how health affects learning and how to use community technology resources.
The university invites parents, grandparents, guardians, teachers, caregivers and other children in Detroit public school to attend and participate.
The WSU college of education sponsors the workshop to help support student achievement by actively involving parents in the process.
The event is free, and the sponsors encourage advance registration. To register or for more information, call the WSU Technical Support Consortium office at (313) 577-8210 or fax (313) 993-7905.
