A Wayne State University School of Medicine graduate has been elected chair of the Michigan State Medical Society’s Board of Directors.
Paul Bozyk, M.D., Class of 2003, was elected to a one-year term as chair during the May 11 MSMS Board of Directors meeting held in Kalamazoo, Mich. He is a specialist in internal medicine, pulmonary and critical care in Royal Oak.
Dr. Bozyk will preside over meetings of the 36-member board, which sets policies and oversees operations for the society.
Dr. Bozyk, who also completed a WSU residency in 2007, is a past chair of the MSMS Residents and Fellows Section, and past chair of the Young Physicians Section. He is an associate professor at Oakland University-William Beaumont School of Medicine and section chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Beaumont Royal Oak. He previously served as president of the Oakland County Medical Society.
The Michigan State Medical Society is the statewide professional association operating as the voice of physicians in Michigan, and is affiliated with the American Medical Association. Physician policies on various issues involving public health, health care delivery and medical ethics are set at the annual MSMS House of Delegates meeting.
