WIMS peer mentoring meeting set for Nov. 19

The Wayne State University School of Medicine chapter of Women in Medicine and Science will conduct a peer mentoring group meeting at 3 p.m. Nov. 19.

All faculty and trainees are welcome to attend the meeting via Zoom.

Faculty in the middle of their careers are at a critical stage, contributing significantly to the research, teaching and service missions of the university. This meeting will provide the opportunity to discuss concerns and potential opportunities to advance research programs to ensure long-term productivity and academic satisfaction.

Panelists include Joyce Benjamins, Ph.D., professor of Neurology; Noreen Rossi, M.D., professor of Physiology and chair of the Promotion and Tenure Committee; Luis Afonso, M.D., professor of Cardiology; Jinping Xu, M.D., professor and chair of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences; Pat Mueller, Ph.D., associate professor of Physiology and chair of the Faculty Research Development Committee; Christine Chow, Ph.D., professor of Chemistry and member of the university Promotion and Tenure Committees; and Boris Baltes, associate provost for Faculty Affairs and associate vice president for Academic Personnel.

Hosts include Neelima Thati, M.D., associate professor of Internal Medicine; Bharati Mitra, Ph.D., professor of Biochemistry; Olena Danylyuk, tech comm and compliance specialist for the provost and vice president of Academic Affairs; Tiffanie Cook, Ph.D., associate professor of Molecular Medicine and Genetics; and Li Li, Ph.D., professor of Internal Medicine and of Genetics.
