Juliann Binienda, Ph.D., professor of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, has been appointed director of the Population Health Division.
She also will oversee the Master’s of Public Health program.
The Population Health Division seeks to improve the public health of urban and underserved communities through population health management, education and training, and community engagement and partnership. The division specializes in public health practice, health services research, curriculum development and evaluation, workforce development and practice-based research.
Dr. Binienda joined the School of Medicine faculty in 1988.
In 2019, she received the Wayne State University President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. She has also won the Wayne State University Inaugural Spirit of Community Award for outstanding community engagement by a faculty member and is a four-time winner of the WSU College Teaching Award.
