Lauren Hamel, Ph.D., assistant professor on Oncology for the Wayne State University School of Medicine, was recently interviewed by The ASCO Post about preliminary findings in her study on race and doctor-patient behavior.

Dr. Hamel, also professor of the Population Studies and Disparities Research Program for WSU and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, discussed the ways nonverbal behavior between doctors and patients of the same or different races may affect their relationship, quality of communication, and ultimately, perhaps outcomes.
