The Wayne State University campus community and media are invited to attend a special hybrid Board of Governors meeting at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 30, in the Law School’s Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium. The purpose of the meeting is to vote on the appointment of Wayne State University’s new president.
Last month, an email from Governor Mark Gaffney, chair of the Presidential Search Committee and the Board of Governors — on behalf of the search committee — informed campus that the board was in the process of interviewing finalists for the position and making a selection.
Governor Gaffney shared that following four feedback sessions held last fall, consultants at WittKieffer shared the position profile with more than 3,600 prospective applicants and received more than 50 submissions of interest.
The next president will be the 13th in Wayne State’s 155-year history.
Media planning to attend are asked to RSVP to Matt Lockwood, associate vice president of university communications, at 248-622-8060 or mlockwood@wayne.edu. Limited parking will be available Lot 32 in front of the Law School, located at 471 W Palmer Avenue. Those planning to use the parking lot will have access through the intercom at the gate; please indicate you are with the media.
The president-elect will be available for phone interviews following the meeting. The board chair will be available for in-person interviews.
