What: The Wayne State University School of Medicine’s commencement and hooding ceremony honoring the medical school’s M.D. Class of 2022 will feature greetings by university officials; keynote address from School of Medicine alumna and “In Shock” author and pulmonary and critical care physician Rana Awdish, M.D.; graduate hooding; conferral of degrees and the diploma march, during which the graduates’ names will be called.
The event will also include a tribute to lives lost to the COVID-19 pandemic and a military officer promotion ceremony for the School of Medicine’s students entering the military after graduating.
Who: In addition to 307 new physicians earning degrees, Wayne State University faculty and staff, family and friends of graduates will be back in the audience for the first time in two years, cheering on the graduates in person.
