What: Wayne State University Commencement Redux is a ceremony for alumni who graduated during the pandemic and were not provided an opportunity for an in-person celebration.
Commencement Redux includes many of the same elements as a traditional commencement ceremony. Participating graduates will have the opportunity to walk across the stage and have photos taken.
The ceremony will include addresses from Wayne State President M. Roy Wilson, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Mark Kornbluh, Dean of Students David Strauss, keynote alumni speaker Esmat Ishag-Osman and the Wayne State University Alumni Association.
Who: The event is open to alumni who graduated anytime in 2020 or May 2021. Alumni are invited to bring up to four guests. The ceremony will be followed by a reception that will include refreshments, giveaways and commemorative photo opportunities.
Why: Graduation is an exciting milestone, and Wayne State wanted to recognize its many students who have graciously waited for their own in-person celebration. Commencement Redux will honor the accomplishments of alumni who graduated during the pandemic and bring them together for a memorable celebration.
