MEDIA ADVISORY: Wayne State University School of Medicine to host in-person Match Day on March 18

What: Match Day is the culmination of four years of hard work and determination for medical students nationwide, including our 300 future physicians who train in the heart of Detroit at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. This is the day M.D. students find out if and where they ‘matched’ with their chosen medical specialty and medical residency program.

Who: At the first in-person Match Day celebration since 2019, Wayne State University School of Medicine students from the Class of 2022 will gather at MotorCity Casino Hotel’s ballroom to find out where they will begin their career as physicians. Students will open a letter that contains their post-graduation residency assignment for the next three to seven years, depending on their medical specialty.

For those who can’t attend in person, the Match Day celebration will synchronously stream at wayne.edu/live.

Why: This is a visually and auditory-appealing event to cover, with students and faculty available for interviews before and after the big reveal.

Where: MotorCity Casino Hotel
2901 Grand River Ave.
Detroit, MI 48201

The Match Day celebration will begin at 11 a.m. – residency placements will be revealed at noon. Media must fill out a screener to attend the event. Please visit this website for the screening form.

Media: Please contact Andrea Westfall at awestfal@med.wayne.edu or 586-871-9630.
