Apply for Wayne State Public Relations and University Television paid internship

Wayne State University’s Office of Marketing and Communications has a current job opening for a student intern to assist its Public Relations and University Television video teams by capturing video content and video interviews, that will be used to help promote a wide array of university achievements. The right candidate will have excellent people skills, strong communication instincts, a solid understanding of social media and a passion and confidence for video production.

When working with the UTV video team, the ideal candidate will have a strong interest in producing video content and editing video content. The ideal candidate also has skills in telling concise and entertaining stories through the medium of video. Samples of video content previously produced are highly recommended.

When working with the Public Relations team, the ideal candidate must be able to write copy, craft pertinent questions and be comfortable recording in-person interviews with faculty, staff and students. The candidate should also be able to quickly edit video for incorporation into other content, including social media.  

Candidates must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at Wayne State University. Candidates should be available for up to 20 hours per week and must own a smartphone in good working condition.

The intern will work in a high-volume marketing and communications department that serves the communications needs of the entire Wayne State community. It’s our goal to provide this intern with a well-rounded hands-on, marketing and communications experience in a variety of areas.

The internship pays $12 an hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry gear
  • Assist with video shoot set ups
  • Record video
  • Edit video
  • Write script copy
  • Conduct research
  • Participate in strategy and planning meetings as needed
  • Assist with social media
  • Assist with and attend various campus events
  • Assist with administrative duties
  • Run errands
  • Other duties as assigned
