Wayne State offers assistance to students affected by Argosy University closures

As a university with a long tradition of providing access and opportunity to a diverse student body, Wayne State University is offering to assist students affected by the abrupt closure of California-based Argosy University — which had 26 campuses in 11 states and a large community of online students across the country, including those in Michigan.

Affected students are invited to schedule appointments with designated Wayne State financial aid counselors to discuss issues related to financial aid and credit transfers. The counselors will educate students about how both processes work, potential implications, and assist with their decision making process. If a student wishes to apply, Wayne State will waive the application fee. Former Argosy University students can make an appointment at studentservice@wayne.edu or by calling 313-577-2100.

Students are also invited to attend any of the following upcoming events to learn more about WSU’s degree programs and student services:

  • Walk Over to Wayne at the Advanced Technology Education Center (ATEC) on March 19 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. (RSVP here)
  • Walk Over to Wayne at Schoolcraft College on March 21 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. (RSVP here)
  • Spring Open House on Main Campus on March 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (RSVP here)

“We have great empathy for these students,” said Dawn Medley, associate vice president of enrollment management. “Even if Wayne State is not the right fit for them, we want to offer these students support and encourage them to continue with their education.”
