Wayne State University professor wins Laureate Award from American College of Physicians

Patricia Brown, M.D., F.A.C.P., F.I.D.S.A., professor of Internal Medicine for the Wayne State University of School of Medicine, has been honored with a Laureate Award from the Michigan Chapter of the American College of Physicians.

The Laureate Award honors a Fellow or Master of the College who has demonstrated by their example and conduct an abiding commitment to excellence in medical care, education or research and in service to their community, their chapter and the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Brown, who also serves as associate chief of staff for Medicine at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center, was recognized for her “many accomplishments, particularly for her involvement in medical education and (the Michigan) chapter.”

“The American College of Physicians advocates for excellence in the care of adults and commitment to medical education and scholarship. We are very fortunate to have a strong ACP chapter in our state, and I am deeply honored to receive this award,” said Dr. Brown, of Grosse Pointe Park, Mich. “It was especially meaningful for me to attend the ceremony in the company of two of my former Detroit Receiving Hospital Internal Medicine chief residents, who are now medical school faculty members in Michigan and actively engaged in educating the next generation of internists.”
