WHAT: Groundbreaking ceremony for Wayne State University’s Anthony Wayne Drive Apartments.
Wayne State’s demand for housing is at an all-time high and the university is preparing for continued growth and a strong future by expanding its on-campus housing with a brand-new building that will increase student beds by 841. This also includes 17,000 square feet for retail space and 9,700 square feet for a new student health services center.
Immediately following the groundbreaking, there will be a reception hosted in the adjacent St. Andrew’s Hall. Visual renderings — along with a virtual reality tour of the project — will be available for viewing. Refreshments and Detroit-themed small-plate food such as coney dogs, Better Made potato chips and assorted Faygo cupcakes will be served.
Anthony Wayne Drive Apartments are part of Wayne State’s 10-year master plan. The apartments will accommodate students from around the world who are eager to study in Midtown. Wayne State University’s partner on this project is Corvias, a leader in enhancing residential community structures on college and university campuses.
WHEN: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, April 21
