Wayne State University offers free CME/CE training, screening

Referral and follow-up of Autism Spectrum Disorder using the M-CHAT-R

The University Pediatricians Autism Center (UPAC) in the Wayne State University Department of Pediatrics and the Michigan Area Health Education Center are offering free seminars this spring geared toward health professionals. This training will enable health care professionals will be prepared to screen for Autism Spectrum Disorders using the evidence-based M-CHAT-R tool after attending this presentation. Discussion will also entail how to address parents with the results of the M-CHAT-R, making referrals, and following up on referrals and recommendations in order to ensure follow-through and coordination of care. Continuing education credits are available.

There are two opportunities to take the training at Wayne State University. The first seminar will be held May 19, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the College of Nursing in Room 21 and will be simulcast from a live broadcast at Western Michigan University. The second seminar will be held June 9, 2017 at the College of Nursing in Room 21 from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be simulcast from a live broadcast at Central Michigan University. Refreshments will be served at both events.
