Zombies will invade campus from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27. Will you flee or join them as they take to the streets?
The second annual Zombie Parade, hosted by the Campus Activities Team and sponsored by the Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance and the music department, will include a zombification station, dance lessons for Michael Jackson’s signature “Thriller” moves, a parade through campus and a party in the Studio Theatre.
The Zombie Parade is free and open to all students, faculty and staff.
Festivities will begin at the Student Center Ballroom at 3 p.m., where students will create their own zombie look and enjoy a quick dance lesson. The parade — which will feature the music department’s Zombie Marching Band — will begin at Gullen Mall at 7 p.m. and wrap up with a party at the Studio Theatre.
Started last year as an impromptu way to have fun and bring awareness to the arts on campus, the Zombie Parade garnered viral media attention and brought together students from many areas of study.
“The idea of the undead is a mystery to us all. As a society, we find the inexplicable interesting and the impossible intriguing,” said Lynnetta Smith, a supervisor with the Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, who helped organize the event. “Through zombies, we’re able to use art to examine the afterlife without actually having to experience it.”
