Start the semester on the right foot

It’s been said 80 percent of life is just showing up.

And students know the drill: Go to class, pass the test and get the degree. But what more can be done?

Ongoing participation is one of the key factors to ensure students successfully complete classes and ultimately graduate on time. WSU encourages all students to take an active role in their own success. To help them do so, WSU has launched the Go to Class initiative.

As part of the new program, launched with the start of the fall semester, instructors will confirm students’ participation in their classes. Participation includes: attendance, completion of homework, taking an exam, contributing to discussions, engaging with a study group, or working on a group project.

A lack of engagement and participation, especially early in the semester, can impact students’ grades and potentially any federal financial aid received. Proactively monitoring participation allows advisors and instructors to more effectively help students succeed.
