MORE INFO: The Wayne State University Police Department was formed in 1966 and provides a full range of professional police services to both the main and medical center campuses, as well as the surrounding Midtown neighborhood. Each officer has at least a bachelor's degree and many have advanced degrees. All WSUPD officers are fully licensed through the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards, sworn peace officers commissioned under state law, and each officer is commissioned as a Detroit police officer. WSUPD takes a community-oriented approach to law enforcement, knowing that partnerships and cooperation are needed to ensure protection of persons and property. More information about the police department is available at police.wayne.edu.
