College of Education hosts annual job fair and Graduate Program Showcase

Aspiring teachers and education professionals are invited to join the College of Education for its annual Education Job Fair and Graduate Programs Showcase, held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 12.

This two-part event is for those considering the next step in their education and those prepared to step into the the job market.

These events will be held on Wayne State’s main campus in the Student Center Ballroom.

Approximately 60 recruiters from the Midwest region, including out-of-state school districts, are scheduled to interview candidates for a variety of career placement options in education. Attendees should bring multiple copies of their resume and cover letter.

“The Education Job Fair is open to anyone interested in finding a career in education,” said Mary Waker, job fair coordinator. “Recruiters are seeking enthusiastic candidates for a wide variety of openings, such as classroom teachers, social workers, paraprofessionals and school administrators, to name a few. This event gives everyone an opportunity to explore how the field of education can take them far beyond the classroom.”

The College of Education is accredited in more than 25 program areas, with eight learning communities that provide a diverse and comprehensive experience for students.

During the Graduate Programs Showcase, attendees will have an opportunity to speak with faculty and current students about enhancing career opportunities with a graduate degree. A financial aid officer will also be available to guide prospective students through the application process. Registration is free for the Graduate Programs Showcase. Scholarships for registered attendees will be available.

Parking in Structure 5 is recommended. A credit card is needed for entry and exit. The cost is $7.
