What: Wayne State University, in partnership with the City of Detroit, will host the inaugural Mayor’s Summit on Health Equity on May 3. Led by Wayne State President M. Roy Wilson and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, health disparity researchers will gather with officials from Detroit’s department of public health, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and key community organizations to address the city’s health disparities.
The summit will include remarks and keynote speeches from President Wilson; Mayor Duggan; Nadine Gracia, M.D., deputy assistant secretary for minority health and the director of the Office of Minority Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; Abdul El-Sayed, M.D., City of Detroit executive director of public health and health officer; Dawn Misra, Ph.D., associate chair for research and a professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences at WSU; and Dwayne Proctor, Ph.D., senior advisor to the president and director of healthy portfolio at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
