Oklahoma! is the Broadway hit that ushered in the golden age of musical theatre. The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance is excited to present this dance extravaganza as celebrated choreographer Meg Paul works alongside director Blair Anderson to blend elegant dance into this classic musical. Paul brings an extensive wealth of dance experience to the stage as artistic director of the WSU Dance Workshop Company and program director for the Complexions Contemporary Ballet Detroit Summer Intensive.

Oklahoma! was the first musical to incorporate professional dance via a "dream ballet," in which professional dancers doubled for the leading actors, integrating dance into the musical's plot. Members of the Allesee Dance Company double for the Bonstelle Theatre Company cast offering up visually stunning ballet.

This production has something for everyone. For lovers of theatre, it's a classic story of the budding romance between a cowboy and a farm girl. For music lovers, Oklahoma! offers up more than a dozen toe-tapping numbers. And for dance fans, the dream ballet is guaranteed to mesmerize.

Oklahoma! plays April 15-24 at the Bonstelle Theatre. Visit theatreanddance.wayne.edu or call the box office at 313-577-2960 for information and tickets.
